A couple of minor problems arose and were quickly dealt with. Excellent communication and follow-up. Our building surveyor inspected the work as it progressed and issued a certificate of completion when it was finished.

Very helpful.Derek came out the same day to take a look at a creaky floor (due to a squeaky nail and pin between a concrete stump and the bearer). Gave honest advice (which didn't result in any work for him) and was a nice bloke to deal with.

We called Eastern Restumping to come and quote on levelling our flooring. Derek was quick to come out at and view the job to provide a quote. Derek assessed our property, was patient with the mayhem of 3 kids ruining riot through the house and took the time to explain in detail our property's needs even though our job wasn't one for his business and even provided a contact that was better suited to the job at hand.We couldn't recommend Derek more highly for his honest assessment of our job and more importantly taking the time to make sure we understood what we needed and how we should try and move forward

We reached out to Derek for a quote as we just recently purchased a new home and wanted to be sure it is level. He was able to squeeze us in to inspect the house basically the next day - which was amazing given the workload. He gave us a debrief after his inspection, which was very knowledgeable and covered multiple elements. Something I want to call out is that he suggested actually not to do anything and advised that no packing is required - someone saying no to a job and having alternate suggestions is something that is rare, and I value a lot. Highly recommend.

Mornington Peninsula customers take note. These guys do travel and will actually turn up on time and do a good job. However, it's only when issues arise after a job has been completed that you can rate how good a tradie is. On this basis I can highly recommend Eastern Restumping and Underpinning. After nearly being ripped of by someone in Rosebud for a re-stumping of my dad's place in Dromana (original weatherboard that had BV added later and God knows what else to the existing foundations), I was referred to Derek. Not only was the quote a lot cheaper than others on the Peninsula, when I had an issue with further building work months after the job was complete, he made the effort to come out, inspect and advised the builder on my behalf within a week of my call. Speaking to the builder afterward he said he was satisfied with Derek's response and 'the guy knows what he's talking about'. Can't ask for better service.

I had a very good experience with the Underpinning work done by Eastern. From a prompt first visit by Derek, followed by a Quote together with helpful advice regarding documentation required, it always felt very professional. When the work started they were always punctual, the onsite team were very careful, quiet and neat. The job became complicated when they struck rock, so there was an additional visit from the Civil Engineer to advise on the best way to proceed. I was so glad I had chosen Eastern for their experience, as i felt that everything was in good hands. I was very impressed with all aspects of their work.

Derek came through and gave us a quote on our little terrace house. We bought it 6 months ago and have seen a little bit of movement in that time with cracks and floor movements.The front also appears to be sinking. My partner and I are two women, and have had our fair share of 'sharks' come through to assess out situation, with a few of them talking down to us, throwing out ridiculous quotes and saying our house was stuffed. Derek was a breath of fresh air. He explained to us in detail which areas were more pressing to fix than others, gave us timelines and things to look for, and even talked himself out of a bit of work. We learned a lot about the history of the house through his eye and explanation. Really reasonable and genuinely nice guy. We will definitely be using him.

Sara very kindly setup an express appointment for Derek to visit us. Derek assessed our property, was patient and answered all our questions. I contacted Eastern Restumping and Underpinning concerned about some cracking in the wall along one side of my daughter’s home. Eastern Restumping were very understanding and flexible and made an urgent appointment for Derek to inspect the house which I was very grateful for as my daughter was very stressed about the situation. Based on my experience, I highly recommend Eastern Restumping and Underpinning. We had underpinning works done - 7 x 2.5 meter deep concrete pins, which needed to be hand dug due to gas and water pipes in the area! They did an amazing job!

We had our house (a heritage listed, California bungalow) re-levelled by Haydn just before Christmas. Given the age of the property we were concerned what could be achieved with the floor levels, particularly with the minimal ground clearance. However, Haydn did an exceptional job and demonstrated real skill, patience and care in his work. First met Derek in May 2013 when he came to assess and advise on what was happening with our house which had developed cracked external brickwork and some damaged plaster inside due to settling over a 10 year period. Derek advised us to have a building engineer inspect and we received advice that our problems were easily fixed but it would probably be better to just leave the situation as is and observe what developed for a couple of years. Fast forward to February 2019 we decided to contact Derek once again and get his advice on what we should do in our situation now after some minor cracks in brickwork mortar appearing and Derek once again gave us very honest and professional advice that we didn’t need to do anything as what was happening was normal movement in our type of construction and it was nothing major to worry about. In my opinion Derek has saved us from expensive and unnecessary work being done in our situation, it’s great to meet someone like Derek with such honesty and integrity which is rare today’s world. My place was restumped and plastered (but never levelled) before I purchased it over 5 years ago and I now have a strange dropping situation that has stumped (no pun intended) many a restumper. Seeing my frustration at the inability to define a clear solution, Derek took the time to take level measurements around the house and uncover the real issue - a large tree sucking the moisture and dropping my house at the same time. Derek's patience to help me solve the issue, his knowledge of his profession, and his willingness to really uncover what was happening to better service my needs as a customer was extrememly valuable.
